Workouts
The Volleyball-Tae Kwon Do Connection
Kelsey, age 13
I happen to participate in two totally different sports, volleyball and Tae Kwon Do. I get a lot of raised eyebrows when people learn about what I do.
I have played volleyball for the past four years at my school. And also two years of club volleyball in the last two years on Paye Performance. I enjoy the teamwork and spirit in a volleyball team.
I also take Tae Kwon Do at the Gold Medal Martial Arts School. It really helps my self-confidence and discipline. I spar to improve my speed and reaction time. This helps me a lot when I am on the volleyball court because I can get to the ball faster than I did before.
In volleyball you work as a team and have group results. In Tae Kwon Do you focus on your individual abilities. I have learned that in volleyball, we work as a team and that individual efforts make the whole team better. I try to work as hard as I can to be my best. Volleyball helps eye-hand coordination and Tae Kwon Do helps with my discipline.
And with all the stress comes happiness.
